These Terms govern your use of OpenAptitude (the “Service”), operated by [OpenAptitude / legal entity] (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
You must be 18 or older to create an account and use the Service. By signing up you confirm that you are. One account per person; don’t create accounts for others or share yours.
OpenAptitude provides science-based cognitive self-assessment and (in later phases) brain-training content. It is free, has no paywall, and is funded by voluntary donations. There is never an obligation to donate, and donating does not unlock features or change your results.
Scores are statistical estimates for personal insight and interest only. They are not a medical, psychological, or educational diagnosis, and are not intended for employment, admissions, clinical, legal, or other high-stakes decisions. Until our norms are finalized, scores are labeled preliminary and are reported as ranges rather than precise points.
You sign in through a third-party provider (e.g. Google or Facebook). We store the identity information they share with us — we never receive or store your provider password. You’re responsible for keeping your provider account secure. Keep the information you give us (such as age band) accurate, since it affects how your results are compared.
To keep scores meaningful for everyone, you agree not to:
Tests are monitored for integrity. Certain actions (copying/pasting, leaving the test window, and similar) are recorded and, after admin-configured warnings, may void an attempt and temporarily lock retakes. These are honesty deterrents — we cannot see your screen or your files.
The Service, its software, test items, and content are owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own, non-commercial use. Your own data (your responses, scores, and profile information) remains yours — see the Privacy Policy for how you can access, export, or delete it.
Donations are voluntary and support the free operation of the Service. They are not payment for goods or services and are non-refundable except where required by law. We are not a tax advisor; consult your own advisor about deductibility.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these Terms. If we make material changes we’ll update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, give notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made based on your scores. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. [Liability cap and jurisdiction-specific terms to be set by counsel.]
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or threaten the integrity or security of the Service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be set]. Questions about these Terms: [legal@openaptitude.com].
